OLD WIPS, NEW IDEAS (& Lucky 7 Meme)

Revisiting my old self, and The Lucky 7 Meme

So I had a little brain spurt the other day. I was thinking about the first young adult novel I ever attempted to write. About how excited I was that it was going to be the 'next big thing'. Then I finished it, put it out there and realized I had A LOT of work to do!!

Fast forward, 7...yes, seven!! years. I've been thinking about this story a lot and, well, as much as I had given up on it, I don't think it's right to let it go. I decided to shake it up a bit. I love the setting, love the characters and the plot, but it's the theme (werewolves) that has me hoping for change. So now, I'm creature searching. I need to find something different, something that will allow my MC to be the same person, just a different species ;) We'll see what I come up with.

Now speaking of old WIPS the Queen of Awesome, Jennifer Fischetto tagged me over on her blog. She's introduced me to something called the Lucky 7 Meme. I'm supposed to do something really embarrassing. Share a sample of my unedited writing. I chose my very first WIP. It's an adult WIP that nobody has ever seen before. Nobody. That's probably why it looks like it does.

Here goes :)

The Lucky 7 Meme:

Rules

  • Go to page 77 of your current MS/WIP
  • Go to line 7
  • Copy down the next 7 lines--sentences or paragraphs--and post them as they're written. No cheating.
  • Tag 7 authors
  • Let them know

Okay, my friends, here it is.

Alright, false start.  Here it is, for real this time :)

After returning the items to the refrigerator, she washed her hands, grabbed a banana from the top of the fridge and sat down to enjoy her meal.

Her mind wondered back to Ian.

Where is he now? She wondered.

She rarely thought of him. At least not anymore. Perhaps it was the upcoming reunion that triggered her memory. Ian had been ‘the love of her life’.

    1. Jenn, I just read the first line of the third paragraph and realized how hilarious it sounds. For the record, I don't think you're an old WIP at all! LOL

  3. Hey, Kelbian. Thanks for tagging me. :) This is a very brave thing to do, lol. I'll have to see if I can drudge anything up from my old WIPs. (And hope I'm not too red-faced to share.)
